BBS: Celebrating International Women’s Day

Thanks to our praying partners, the Beirut Baptist School (BBS) continues its mission being a lighthouse within a densely populated, majority non-Christian neighborhood.

Driven with this mission to reach out to the people within its neighborhood, BBS is keen on influencing the life of not only its students but also the parents, their friends, and the families living within the area.

For this reason, on Saturday March 2, the Preschool of BBS planned a day to celebrate the International Women’s Day. All the mothers of the children were invited to the event, and were encouraged to invite their friends who are themselves mothers of children aged between 1 and 5 years.

Despite the bad weather conditions and the heavy rain, 114 mothers attended, including 15 mothers whose children are not part of the preschool.

The event was much appreciated by the mothers, who needed time for self-care, reflection and gaining new and important knowledge in order to better take care of themselves and their children. Four sessions were organized on the following topics:

  • Infectious diseases in the child’s settings and how to contain them
  • Breast cancer awareness
  • Women’s mental health: depression and anxiety
  • Physical health; The No-Diet Fit Mom

The sessions were interactive and the moms were very interested and asked many questions. At the end of the event, all of the mothers shared positive feedback and returned to their home taking with them various gifts.

Pray with us that these events will enable BBS to keep on positively impacting the community around it and to remain a lighthouse in the heart of Beirut.
