Who We Are
Founded in 1998 with roots going back to 1955, LSESD is a Lebanese faith-based organization with a holistic focus on inclusive education, relief & development, and equipping the church. With its reach throughout the Middle East & North Africa, LSESD seeks to empower the local Church and serve the local community regardless of background by:
- Restoring hope to the vulnerable and marginalized
- Building bridges with local communities
- Nurturing servant leaders and responsible citizens
This month, we’ve collected first-hand interviews of female Arab writers, parents of special needs individuals, a Syrian parent, a Kurdish student, and Middle Eastern pastors. We hope you take the time to really hear the stories of these often-marginalized voices, just as our Father God hears.
From February 4-5, Dar Manhal al Hayat (DMAH) hosted a writing workshop as part of their ongoing A Voice for Arab Women project—a three-year project that seeks to elevate the stories of women throughout the Arab world.
Only 20 years ago, there were only a few hundred followers of Christ in the Middle East and North Africa region. Now, we’re seeing miraculous growth, even in times of war and crisis. In light of these changes, there is a critical need for discipleship training and spiritual resources – for both new and mature believers alike.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.
Equipping and edifying the Church in the MENA Region
(ABTS & DMAH)
As the Church in the Arab world continues to expand and adapt to its ever-changing surroundings, there is a strong need to ensure that Arab Christian leaders are well-prepared to lead in their local communities and that the people of God are well-fed to be able to grow in faith and understanding. For this reason, ABTS and DMAH work to ensure that Christian leaders and believers across the MENA region are well equipped to engage with others from different faith backgrounds and stand firm in their faith and spread the Word of God.
Relief and Development
Restoring Hope to the Hopeless
(MERATH & BCYM)
After eight years of unabated human displacement, rather than decreasing, the needs of those affected by the violence in neighboring countries has only increased. Through the work of MERATH and BCYM, LSESD is able to respond to the ongoing refugee crisis and reach out to the most vulnerable in the community. These needs include not only material and educational needs, but also spiritual ones.
Providing Quality Education and Advocating for those with Learning Differences
(BBS & SKILD)
Both BBS and SKILD have made it their mission to provide quality education for all types of learners. Learning style assessments and behavioral programs are at the heart of their mission to show children that they are capable of achieving great things despite their individual learning styles. By providing a learning environment that is not only accepting but also fun and incorporates faith-based values, BBS and SKILD help all children to see that they are valuable and have the right to succeed and enjoy life.
